during the mass last Sunday(Jan. 16,2011) presided by Fr. Mario Sobrejuanite, he shared the story of
the origin of our Child Jesus...
(this is not exactly what he said, this is according to what i have understood)
the story begins when Saint Therese of Jesus started to serve God under the Carmel of Lisieux institution. during her service, the Carmeli of Lisieus experinced some problems which lead her to experience another calling from God. She was asked by God to reform the Carmel of Lisieux to a better one, on the way of reforming, Saint Therese felt that she is not capable of doing what had God wanted her to do, that is why she decided to take little reflection in one of the palce where monks live. they said that this is a place where not everyone can come and go, a very secure place. at the time when Saint Therese entered the house she noticed a little boy and wondered how did the boy get in the place when it is so hard to enter in the first place. that is why she approached the little boy and asked "What is your name?" the boy did not replied and so Saint Theres asked again "What is your name?" the boy looked up and said "What is your name?", Saint Therese replied "Soy Therese de Jesus (I am Therese of Jesus)",then she asked again "What is your name?", the boy replied "Soy Jesus of Therese ( I am Jesus of Therese)" and the boy run. Saint Therese followed the boy but after following the boy was no where to be found, and with that she interpret the experience as the sign of God that she should not give up the things that she started. after seeing the boy, she was inspired to make a model of what she had seen through molding him, that was the very first figure of the Child Jesus or Sto Nino. after making the figure, Saint Therese was very pleased to one of the contributor of the Carmel of Lisieux and gave the figure to that lady. the lady's daughter was about to get married and as a wedding gift, the Child Jesus was brought to Czech Republic and pass on to Prague.
Currently the original figure of the Child Jesus is found in Prague...
